Use of Shoalstone Pool by Organised Groups

One of the challenges at Shoalstone Pool is to manage the lifeguard to swimmer ratio effectively, ensuring that our high safety standards are maintained without spending more than we need to on lifeguard salaries.

We calculate our staffing numbers based on average numbers and weather forecasts at different times of the season, and cannot factor in the unexpected arrival of large groups of swimmers from any single organisation.

We also rely almost entirely on donations to keep the pool running, with a suggested donation of £2.50 per swim or £6 per family.

With this in mind, we kindly request the following:

  • Any organisation planning to bring a group of people to the pool should notify us at least one week in advance by email at info@shoalstonepool.com, or by speaking to the Pool Manager or Senior Lifeguard on duty.
  • Any group which includes children must ensure they are appropriately supervised – under 8s and non-swimmers must be accompanied in the pool by a responsible adult.
  • Organisations should make an appropriate donation for their size of group to help cover the cost of running the facility. This can be made in cash at the pool, through our website donation facility or via bank transfer – please email us for details.

We are very keen to ensure that the pool is available to all who wish to use it, but we regret that if we are not given sufficient notice of your intentions to visit with an organised group then we may need to turn you away.

In addition to the above arrangements for non-exclusive use of the pool, the pool is available to hire for exclusive use for a large group. Please email us on info@shoalstonepool.com if you would like to discuss this possibility further.
