The Ice Mile swim challenge talk with Jerrie Roberts

29/05 - 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

While most people will still shudder at the idea of a dip, Jerrie Roberts just loves water temperatures to be 5 degrees or less and is coming to tell us why!
Jerrie Roberts is 72 years old and just loves a challenge. She moved to Torquay 10 years ago and discovered open water swimming. She has swum in numerous events and challenges and is believed to be the oldest woman to have swum the length of Lake Windemere (10.5 miles) in 2020. Jerrie’s latest challenge is to swim an Ice Mile.
What is the Ice Mile challenge?
The challenge is to swim one British mile (1609m) in water temperature of 5 degrees or less, unassisted, only wearing a cap, goggles and a standard swimming costume.
Join us on the compass deck by pool and welcome Jerrie to Shoalstone and hear about her latest challenge !
