Opening Statement 2021
Pool Closed Until June 21st 2021
As you are no doubt aware, the government has produced a "roadmap" out of COVID19 restrictions. As part of the second stage of this roadmap outdoor swimming pools can re-open from 29th March 2021, subject to constraints such as capacity limits, social distancing, wearing of masks, etc. The directors of Shoalstone Pool CIC have concluded that opening and operating Shoalstone pool will only be possible when these restrictions have been fully removed. This decision has been taken based upon the pool remaining free to use for all without requirement for pre-booking or distancing within the pool. We do not want to restrict family use or constrain swimmers to lanes. The government has stated that the 21st of June is the earliest possible date for the removal of such restrictions.
Current social distancing regulations are preventing us from using volunteers on site. Volunteer activity will recommence with pool cleaning and painting/maintenance as soon as the rule of six is in place. As constraints are lifted and it is safe to do so, we will get our volunteers back on site getting the pool ready to open. We hope to begin the refurbishment from the 29th of March.
Rest assured that significant work is ongoing behind the scenes. We are taking steps to secure the services of a contractor to carry out a number of essential repairs to the pool and surrounding infrastructure. We have had a full structural survey carried out and decisions are imminent on how best we can secure income for longer term work to ensure the longevity of the pool.
Stay safe and well and we look forward to seeing you at Shoalstone as soon as we can in 2021.
