Design a Poster Competition

Design a Poster Competition for Children

We know many children and adults are disappointed that Shoalstone pool has remained closed this year. We want people to continue to support our efforts to not just keep Shoalstone pool open but to make it a thriving pool.

We know many children and adults are disappointed that Shoalstone pool has remained closed this year. We want people to continue to support our efforts to not just keep Shoalstone pool open but to make it a thriving pool.

We are delighted to launch today the Shoalstone pool design a poster competition. The aim is to produce two eye-catching posters that can be put on the rubbish bins on site.

We extend an invitation to all children aged 5 to 11 to submit designs that communicate the need for all rubbish to be put in bins or it might end up in the pool. The designs should be suitable for printing, so this rule out things like stuck on pasta. They should be striking whether printed in colour or black and white. Ideally, they will include a simple slogan, such as Keep Shoalstone pool clean, In the bin! or Put rubbish in its place not in the pool.

The winning posters will be used around the site to promote the use of bins.

There are two categories – one for children between the ages of 5 and 8 and one for children between the ages of 9 and 11. Three local artists –  Julia Finzel, Pru Preston and Nicky Stevenson will select their joint favourites in each of the two categories.

Please submit your entries by Saturday 31st October 2020 by handing them in at The Colours of Brixham (48 Middle Street) or The Nicky Stevenson Gallery (7 Middle Street) or post to 2 Oxford Lane Brixham TQ5 8PP. Please put your name, age and location on the back.

We will announce the results of the competition during early November.

Each of the winners will receive a framed copy if their poster and a certificate.
